NEWSLETTERS
How To Work With Them

We are bombarded with all sorts of ways to Get Exposure on the INTERNET, and truth be told, many of them are junk. If you are reading this, you have probably been through the gamut like most of us who have either dabbled in or seriously pursued online marketing.

Online Newsletters are plentiful and one can find countless newsletters on just about any topic imaginable simple by going to any search engine and typing in the keyword (your topic) + the word "e-zine", "ezine" or "newsletter".

These Newsletters are subscription based, whereby people have actually submitted their email to the publisher, requesting to be sent their Newsletter. That's pretty powerful when you consider that a well managed list is composed of thousands of people who all want and read the newsletter - and you get to have your advertisement sent along with it as a "sponsor ad" - or some evenallow for "solo-ad" mailings wherethey mail just your ad to their list.

Now, because of the early on success that was realized in Newsletter Advertising, scams and junk have sprung up all over the net to entice unsuspecting advertisers into handing over their hard-earned money to these scam artist.

Like any industry or business, you have to be careful. Follow the guidelines below and you should find yourself avoiding many of the pitfalls associated with this promotional method.

The nice thing about this way of promoting your business is, when you actually find the right lists to promote with, it is an inexpensive and effective way to create a consistent flow of prospects to your business. For example, one list I promoted with, cost me $25 for the mailing. I ended up signing up a person from that list who brought in over 400 people into my organization within a matter of days.

Sure there was luck involved there and not all lists will provide results like this, but many will prove to get a bunch of responses and eyeballs to your offer – some more than others. The more you do, the more you stand to get great results.

Ok, onto the E-zine System...

Now, this method works well because it optimizes your ability to get results through testing and sorting.

First, as stated above.

You want to do some research on the newsletters you would like to test. So go through any search engine and type in your keyword plus the word ezine, e-zine or newsletter (or all three in different searches) then try with different key words, such as "work from home", "home based business", "MLM", "Network Marketing", etc.

This will give you all sorts of results.
A bit of advice... Look for some indication in the results that the link you are about to click has a newsletter on the other side or you will be sent off to a lot of sites that are not relevant to your objective here. This will save you loads of tim

Now, the above will take some time and effort. Your objective is to create a file of 20 or more newsletters that you think are worthy of your testing.

How I actually go through my selection process is pretty simply. I make sure the site I am on is professionally done. If there are broken links, missing images or out of date or unprofessional content, I do not bother with this newsletter. If the site is not professionally managed, the list is probably poorly managed.

If it looks like a good prospective list, I will email the webmaster or list manager and see what kind of turn around time they have for answering questions. This is another good indication if it's a well managed list. If they respond in a timely manner, they make the cut.

As I go through this process, I actually save a short cut link to the websites that make the grade into a folder on my desktop called "TESTING EZINES".

Now, I begin testing the newsletters at about 3 or 4 at a time with a TOP OF PAGE sponsorship ad. The mid page and bottom page ads are cheaper, but get so much less of a response that it willactually cost you more per lead generated to advertise with them.

Don't do it! Also, the solo-ads are more expensive, but more effective once you have found a list that pulls. So find out first by testing with a top of page ad

As you begin to find Newsletters that are pulling, create a new folder on your desktop called CURRENT EZINES. Move the proven list links from the old folder to this new folder. For the lists that do not perform, delete them from the old folder (or put them into a NO GOOD folder for future reference of ezines NOT to mail).

Now that you are starting to build your file of newsletters that are proving to get results, you can continue to mail on these newsletter lists over and over - as many as 6, 7 or 8 times (a week a part or so) and some times more before they start to "peter out". AND you can now take advantage of the solo mailing option now that you know you have a performing list!

Once they do begin to taper off in response, DO NOT DELETE THEM! Create a new folder on your desktop called COOLING OFF EZINES and move the link into this folder - rename the link (by right clicking and rename) the actual date that you place it in this folder.

You may be surprised to learn that simply by letting that ezine cool off for 6 to 8 weeks, you can begin mailing it again and your results will pick right back up! Remember, once a good list, chances are it will be again!

Also, when testing and any time you promote with any resource, you need a way to track it (for each resource you use).

You'll want separate stats for each one so you can know which one is pulling and which is not. I used to use outside resources for tracking my clicks, but now use my own scripts.

You can find many services for this simply by going to a search engine and searching for LINK TRACKING SOFTWARE.
This allows you to create a new redirect link for each ad resource, tracking performance of each campaign separately from one another.

The key to getting results with this method is to follow the instructions above to a T!

When following up with some of my team members and asking their results, I would hear stuff like, "It didn't work for me".

When I would dig deeper, I would find that they would try one or two ezines and get little or no results and just assume that this system does not work. If you want it to work, you have to follow the aboveps EXACTLY.

Good luck and if you every need any help, JUST ASK!
